  • Are you in a season where opportunities are opening up, and you need to grow?
  • Have you realised that what got you here won’t get you where you want to go?
  • Are opportunities opening up faster than you feel prepared for?
  • Do you know you’re capable of more but aren’t sure what is holding you back?

Like an elite athletics coach, I help you refine the details, sharpen your thinking, and
maximise your performance. The difference between being good and being great is often found in the fine-tuning.
Most of my clients are in their early to mid 40’s. They have been in the game for a while and have been effective and successful. They are good at what they do. They are also smart enough to realise that to get to the next level will require more than what they currently have in their arsenal.

I am not here to fix you. I am not here to simply give you information. I do not present you with ready-made answers. I am here to:

  • Guide and stimulate your thinking.
  • Help you clarify complex situations.
  • Ask the questions that uncover blind spots.
  • Help you think strategically rather than reactively.
  • Be an experienced and objective sounding board.
  • Fine-tune your leadership and performance.
  • Help you maintain alignment and stop things disintegrating.

I am not the hero; you are the hero. My job is to help you function at your highest level. Every hero has a superpower. My job is to help you unlock yours.

Like an elite athletics coach, I help you refine the details, sharpen your thinking, and maximise your performance. The difference between being good and being great is often found in the fine-tuning. The athletes that win the prize always have someone like that in their corner.

As you grow and achieve, the skills required to keep succeeding begin to change.

Early in your journey, success is largely determined by your technical knowledge and your ability to execute. But as your influence grows, technical competence alone is no longer enough. At some point, the equation begins to reverse.

Leadership increasingly becomes about people. Your ability to communicate, influence, develop others, navigate conflict, and build healthy relationships becomes more important than your technical expertise.

If you fail to grow in these areas, one of two things usually happens:

  • You hit a ceiling. Your technical ability can take you only so far, and your leadership stops growing.
  • You continue to advance, but your leadership becomes unhealthy. You achieve greater responsibility, but leave behind discouragement, confusion, damaged relationships, or organisational dysfunction.

The higher you rise in leadership, and the greater your influence becomes, the less your success is determined by what you know and the more it is determined by how well you lead, develop, and influence people.

Meaningful growth is not an event. It is a process. Strategic coaching is not a quick fix or a box-ticking exercise. It is an intentional partnership designed to help you build a strong foundation, gain greater clarity, and continually refine your thinking, leadership, and life. Together, we identify what matters most, address the obstacles that limit your effectiveness, and develop practical strategies that produce lasting results.

Each conversation builds, creating momentum that compounds over time. The process requires commitment, honesty, and intentionality, but the return on that investment is significant. You gain clearer thinking, wiser decision-making, stronger leadership, healthier relationships, and a more integrated, purpose-driven life.

The Team Whisperer

Helping you understand yourself

The better you know yourself, the more likely you will be able build a successful team. You need to have a clear working knowledge of:

  • How you are wired.
  • What drives your behaviour.
  • Whether you are an Introvert or Extrovert, and what that means.
  • Your emotional intelligence.
  • How you view yourself because of your upbringing.
  • Behaviours you have learned in order to be productive .

I address all of these in the coaching engagement.

How do I help you lead?

There are many people who have been promoted in their organisations because they are experts in their field, or they have technical skills, or they have respect from the team, or they are loyal, or they have just been around longer than anyone else. These people are the primary focus of my coaching. I equip them with the skills to lead.

The skills to lead a team are different from the skills to do the job

Over the past 35 years, observing the number of businesses and organisations that have failed because of the inability of people to lead teams, I have developed a coaching engagement methodology that addresses this reality. The focus is on the leader, but the benefits are for the whole team.

The leadership tango

The tango is a difficult, technical dance

Giving someone the role of a leader without teaching them how to lead is like asking someone to tango without teaching them how to dance.

Given enough time they will learn, but while they are learning the team will be unproductive, costing the company a lot of money. The best investment any company can make is to up-skill their leaders.

My background

I started my first business in 1974. That business is still operating today. I have since started multiple businesses, and have also worked in the corporate and non-profit world.

I studied Industrial Engineering at Wits Technikon. As I studied and applied processes and project management, I began to realise that even with the best processes, if you do not address the people issues the probability of success is drastically curtailed. I came to the conclusion that you have to get three things right in order to succeed:

  1. Process
  2. People
  3. Technology

Having a Process background, I turned my attention to People. I focus on People, but it is invaluable to my clients that I have a Process background so that I understand both.

I have been called “The team whisperer”

I am still happily married after 50 years (to the same wife). I have 2 children, and I am a grandfather and a great-grandfather.

I am based in Cape Town, South Africa but 99% of my work is done online so I have clients all over the world.

I am an accredited LEMON Facilitator
